A Note on John 9.1-11
There is always a connection between the ability and limitation side of our life and the commitment and production side in our relationship with Christ. After the man was healed of his blindness the neighbours wondered, “Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?” (v. 8). Jesus made him not only a seeing man but a man with a new potential. What will be the sense of stewardship of persons who realize their new potential? Each of us has potential—and, therefore must exercise stewardship. As pride can be sinful so can self-negation, a false humility. God made us for a purpose and with potential to fulfill it.
